Politics as Usual - Holiday Edition

Boehner and the House Republicans’ rejection of the payroll tax cut’s two month rejection on Sunday is not surprising.

It’s deeply disturbing. Boehner on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” Sunday asked, “How can you have tax policy for two months?” Well, possibly because Congress will be going in recess. Possibly because companies are preparing payrolls for the new year.

How can Republicans dare to ask that question while fully knowing with their congressional staff that this will most likely lead to families effectively seeing a tax increase for the next two months?

What’s tremendously appalling is Mitch McConnell and legions of Senate Republicans working with the Democrats to forge this deal only to have Boehner do an about-face one week before recess on a Sunday news show.

Forget folly, this is outright political treachery.

This is politics as usual.
